SHORT FICTION: Maximum Wordcount: 7.000 |
| |
We want stories that belong to the Fantasy or Science Fiction
Genre in some way. We don't care how, or how much. We are looking for good fiction and character driven stories.
The sub-genre doesn't matter as long as the reader has to suspend disbelief. High fantasy, dark fantasy, contemporary fantasy,
crossover fantasy, science fantasy, science fiction of any kind (though the focus has to be on the character/s not the gadgets)
or paranormal, supernatural and of course horror. We want good, character-driven fiction and we don't care if you mix in other genres,
or if you defined them completely new or if you took a basic idea -- like a quest -- and made into something original and exciting.
What we are not looking for are stories with gratuitous violence, gore or sex. Now by gratuitous we mean over the top, unnecessary, too much -- we don't
mean PG. Write whatever is necessary to tell the story, and if it is cruel, bloody or passionate then that's what's needed
to tell the story. But if you just want to shock or disgust your readers, your stories are not for us. |

| ARTICLES: Maximum Wordcount: 1.500 |
| |
|
We are looking for articles that revolve around fantasy, science fiction or any aspect of those
two genres. That means articles on writing in the genre as well as articles about fantasy
and science fiction in any way shape or form. We would also like to see articles about
roleplaying, though please, if you refer to any trademarked worlds or copyrighted work, do not forget
to reference them correctly with the proper signage and footnotes. We would also like articles
about poetry in fantasy and science fiction, or paintings, biographies of writers (published or not),
real life experiences concerning fantasy and science fiction (conventions etc.). But above all
the article has to be entertaining. The articles need to be interesting, well written, well-thought-out and
they need to contain something of relevance. |
| |
| POEMS: Maximum Wordcount: 300 |
| |
|
We will only publish one or two poems each issue. There are not a lot of rules that
can be set down for poetry, so we'll keep it short. The poems have to pertain in some way
or form to Fantasy and/or Science Fiction. They have to be good. If you think they are, send them in. |
| |
| ILLUSTRATIONS AND PHOTOGRAPHS |
| |
The illustrations have to contain at least some fantasy or science fiction elements. The photographs can be
simple photographs that have that "magical" quality, or pictures created or tweaked to fit the fantasy and science
fiction category. We only accept
JPEG or GIF files and the illustrations and photographs are governed by the same terms and conditions as the written
works. Please send the illustration and/or photographs as attachments to
submissions@sorceryscience.com. Please write "For Publication" into the subject line. One illustration/photograph
per submission only.
